Recursive releases Flint, a free open-weights coding model that runs on a Mac

Recursive released its first model, Flint: a free, open-weights coding model (Apache 2.0) built for coding agents. It has 40 billion parameters but uses only about 2.5 billion per token, so it runs on a laptop, works offline and has no API fees. Recursive says it hits 125+ tokens a second on an M4 Pro MacBook Pro in its own tests, and that Flint may need more guidance than the big paid coding assistants.

Try it

ollama run flint

On a Mac with Ollama v0.40.8 or later. About a 23 GB download.
