Karpathy: only ~5,000 people have seen what frontier AI can really do

Andrej Karpathy shared his "napkin math" on the AI gap, and it's a sharp funnel: about 6 billion people have barely touched AI chatbots, 1–2 billion use free-tier chatbots casually, about 20 million professionals use frontier AI for code and math, and about 5,000 insiders see swarms of agents working for weeks on mega-projects, new science and frontier math. His warning: human review and comprehension are starting to fall behind.
