Survival LLM is a free, open-source app that runs an AI over 1.5M offline articles with no internet

Survival LLM is a free, open-source app for Apple Silicon Macs and Windows. It runs a local AI model through Ollama over an offline library of about 1.5 million articles, including about 930,000 Wikipedia articles plus FEMA and CDC guidance, first-aid manuals and repair guides. You set it up while online. After that it works with no internet, and every answer shows the exact passage it read. Always check the passage it shows. In our test on a plain CPU with no GPU, it searched the offline library, read Ready.gov (FEMA) pages and answered with its sources. It took about five minutes.

Try it

['Download Survival LLM free at brangus.io/survival-llm (Apple Silicon Mac or Windows).', "Open it and let setup finish while you're online; it downloads the AI model and the library.", 'After that, ask it questions with no internet and check the passage it shows.']

We ran it from source (python3 chat.py) with IBM Granite 4.2 8B and the Essentials library on a CPU-only Linux box with no GPU; one answer took about five minutes. We did not test the Mac or Windows app.
